Huntsman Cancer Institute’s mission is to understand cancer from its beginnings, to use that knowledge in the creation and improvement of cancer treatments, to relieve the suffering of cancer patients, and to provide education about cancer risk, prevention, and care.
What a inspiring, worthy and lofty mission to be able to collaborate on a facility focused on the improvement of cancer treatments and to relieve the suffering of cancer patients. Stippich Design collaborated with the Huntsman Cancer Institute, Huntsman Cancer Foundation, Architectural Nexus, and Jacobsen Construction to develop, design, and manufacture the exterior building identification, interior signage and wayfinding package, and donor recognition package.
The collaborative process began with discussions around how to create interior signage, wayfinding and donor recognition packages that included a branding element to incorporate the Huntsman Cancer Institute’s logo. After a thorough process of investigating several possibilities the final solution was to use a green background for signage, wayfinding and donor scrolls to augment the warmth of the marble and wood architectural materials in the building and then place 1/16″ thick stainless plates with the logo etched into them at the top of the units.
